The 2012 Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Expo!

hey, that's me!

The Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Expo descended on Long Beach Convention Center this past weekend (January 14-15, 2012) & I was in the middle of the action to see what the hottest travel destinations were this year!  The Travel & Adventure Expo celebrates its seventh year and it may be coming to a town near you!    I was on the hunt as a foodie, travel enthusiast, and adventurer and found that this expo really celebrated all of those aspects.

This year, there was literally something for everyone! The main sponsor, the Taiwan Tourism Board, hosted a boba tea shake competition, asked Taiwan trivia questions (I won a pen for knowing how to say ‘thank you’ in Mandarin), & visitors could compete for cool prizes in the fishing bottles competition.  I also got a sample of the boba (tapioca pearl) tea that they were handing out, courtesy of the local Tea Station.

Thrill-seekers could try their hand at zip-lining, scuba diving, rolling in bubble rollers (big giant plastic bubbles that you climb inside, they fill up with air, and then you roll around on water), or rock climbing. It was pretty entertaining to see people attempt to stand during the bubble rollers or zip-lining across the hall.

Foodies came to hear travel personalities such as Andrew Zimmern dish about their culinary travel experiences or to witness the Fiery Foods Challenge, and travel host Samantha Brown even graced the stage and talked about her travel mishaps.

Adventurers and travel enthusiasts perused the aisles of travel booths that provided travel destinations & experiences – everything from Antarctic excursions to driving a Jeep from Venice to Beijing along the famed Silk Road. It was really a fantastic travel adventure event and one that is a must-visit for those of you looking for your next travel destination!
