On Saturday, July 29th, Contiki attended the first ever Her Campus Intercollegiette National Conference, sponsored by Intel. Contiki sponsors the travel section on HerCampus.com, the largest online women’s magazine dedicated to college women, aka “Collegiettes.” College women from hundreds of campus chapters who have worked or are currently working for Her Campus converged on the 17th floor of Sentrys Center in New York City to attend informational sessions, participate in workshops, and network with thought-leaders.
The morning began with a keynote from Anna Post, author from The Emily Post Institute, who gave an informative speech about mobile manners and mobile etiquette. Afterwards, the collegiettes broke into panel sessions that ranged from a day in the life of editorial assistants at NY magazine powerhouses to deciding whether or not to pursue graduate schools. During lunch, the collegiettes heard an afternoon keynote from Ann Shoket, Editor-in-Chief of Seventeen Magazine, before heading into workshops that would assist them in being the best Her Campus College Correspondent for their chapter.
Contiki were the speakers at one of the panels titled “PR and Marketing: What’s the Difference?” Michelle Murray, Contiki’s Director of Sales & Marketing, and Vy Truong, Contiki’s PR Specialist, discussed their personal backgrounds when they were ‘collegiettes’ and how marketing and PR both play a huge role at Contiki.
Special thanks to the Hotel Beacon in the Upper West Side of Manhattan for their wonderful hospitality and support! Contiki has worked with the Hotel Beacon on many occasions and their convenient location to the subway stations and many shops made the trip to New York all the more enjoyable!
