2013 is the year that Brazil starts opening their magnificent stadiums to prepare for the 2014 World Cup.  Opening first is Castelao Arena, which will host the world cup.  Situated in the north-eastern city of Fortaleza, the area has been totally refurbished and seats 67,000.  While you’re there, join in with the Carnival festivities in February

4. The Dakar Rally (Jan. 5 – 20)

Heading to South America?  Starting in Lima, Peru and traveling through Argentina to Santiago, Chile (5,233 miles!) the world’s best drivers and riders (we’re talking quads, bikes, you name it!) floor it through the sand dunes over the course of 2 weeks.  This is one of the most mentally and physically challenging competitions in the world.  Motorcycle USA breaks down the race so you know what these riders are up against!

5. The Year of the Snake (Feb 9-17, 2013)

Today isn’t the only New Year you need to celebrate!  Travel to the Far East and ring in the Lunar New Year to discover your fortune and uncover hundreds of years of tradition in China.  See the 2008 Olympic Village in Beijing or see the world’s longest high-speed line that spans from Beijing to Guangzhou, which just opened last week!
