Forget Mass-Transit, it’s not very good from LaGuardia airport. You could take a supershuttle from the airport, you can arrange that when you land or go to the ground transportation desk and they will help arrange something. There is also a bus service that takes you from LaGuardia to Grand Central, Penn Station, and Port Authority. From there you could catch a subway.
I wouldn’t recommend taking the pubic busses, they may be cheaper, but i think it will take a long time and be a pain with luggage. i’ve done the private bus and super shuttle and both were good.
