Two questions regarding Northern Escape

1) I have a carry-on that just makes the size restrictions, but I also thought about getting a rolling duffel bag. Which would be better?
2) I know this has been asked many times by others, but for this particular trip...laptop: bring or not to bring? (because it would be great, but not a huge must, to check email)
