Hello everyone! I'm trying to decide on my first ever trip with Contiki. I'll be traveling alone and I'm super nervous but I know I'll make fast friends My thing is I can't decide which tour!

I definitely want the London, Paris but which is the better extension:
Amsterdam or Rome?

I want to see both so I'm having a tough time deciding and anyone who has been there or who can offer some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Incidently, anyone traveling on one of the tours in Nov. - I'm looking at Nov. 14th-ish - let me know, that way maybe I'll know someone before I go

They are both excellent tours and I have been on L,P+A myself. I could not really say which one is “better.”

My recommendation would be to go to Amsterdam because there are lots of “Italy specialist” type tours that take you all around Italy, but really, Amsterdam is the only place most tours go in the Netherlands.

So basically what I’m saying here is that you should maximize the potential value of future tours you might take. Italy is truly an amazing place to visit and I would recommend you take a separate tour focusing on the entire country some day in the future. If you’ve already been to Rome, then it dimishes the value of future tours you might take.

I just recently came back from a Highlights tour. i went to both Rome and Amsterdam. Rome has the big ancient sights like the Colosseum, St Peters Basillica etc, and was really nice, the people are wonderful, although it was uncomfortably hot when i was there.
Amsterdam, especially at night is truly the creepiest place ive ever been. That being said i had a great time there also. Personally i would go to Amsterdam and then see Italy in more depth later, because if you’re going to be in Italy you have to go to Florence, Pisa and Vencie, they are really beautiful places and it would be a shame to be so close and not get to see them as well

I just got back from my Amsterdam to Barcelona tour three weeks ago which included Amsterdam and Paris… and I went on the Simply Italy tour two years ago, which included Roma. I would most definitely reccomend Roma. Amsterdam is definitely a cool city and fun. It’s got a crazy nightlight. But Roma is mind blowing. There is nothing like standing in the middle of a modern day city and yet at the same time standing in a city with acient artifacts… walking in the same footsteps that people walked 2000 years ago.
