After my tour i'm going to be staying in Vegas for a few days. While i will do a little gambling i don't want to do a huge amount(otherwise i know i will be paying it off for months)and am looking for other things to do while i am there. I'm thinking of doing a trip over to Hoover Dam one day but other than that i don't know.

I could spend the whole time in the hotel and pool (i'm staying at Stratusphere) but thats not me i'll get bored especially as i will most likely be on my own.

Has anyone got any recomendations of what to do? I'm open to most things (tours, shows, day trips or anything else i may not have thought about) and would really appreciate anyones advice. I think the only thing i won't do it the Sky Jump ride. There is something about jumping off the top of the hotel which doesn't appeal to me (and the fact it costs $100 for something that lasts a few seconds). If you not sure what this is look here

Hey, I haven’t been but I’ve been researching in the hope of going in a year…

You could see a live show? A lot of entertainers/bands do residencies there, and also there are things like Cirque du Soleil which my friend recommended.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m not actually going to be in Vegas until early June next year but i like to plan ahead. This way i can budget for what i want to do but not lock into anything so i can decide when i’m there but for something like a show i don’t mind booking early (if the hotel rooms are anything to go by i’ll need to. I could only get a room with 2 queen size beds insead of 1 king size but i don’t mind too much i don’t plan on spending too much time there).

I’ll look into the various shows going on and bands (but i do have a different taste than most though).

If anyone has seen any shows did you enjoy/recommend them?

There is tons to do in Vegas, every hotel/casino has a gimmick.

Free stuff would be seeing the water show at the Bellagio, Pirate show at TI, Lions at MGM Grand, Freemont Street experience and the volcano at the Mirage. Just walk around the casinos that could take days!

Stuff that costs money – go to the top of Paris, Gondola ride in the Venetian, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Luxor usually has an exhibit when I was last there is was Bodies. I think you can tour the backstage at the Flamingo or Tropicana and see what the showgirls do. Dolphin habitat at Mirage.

There is also an outlet mall not too far from the strip.

There is so much to do. You can easily spend a couple of days walking around the hotels, say, do one side each day. A lot of hotels also have free blackjack or poker lessons, which I thought would have been good to know in advance, cause they’re certain times.
Not sure were your tour is taking you, but the grand canyon would be good.
    Lots of shopping too!

Yeah as mentioned above, there is stacks of stuff to do that won’t all cost you a lot.

Take a day trip to Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon, Go shopping at the discount value malls to get great designner clothes cheap, or otherwise just walk along the Strip and pop into hotels checking out the tricks they have to offer. MGM (which is the opposite end of the Strip from the Stratosphere but easy enough to get to by and public transport)has great pool parties called Wet Republic during the day as well which might be worth seeing.
