egypt optional excursions

Ok so i'm sure this question has already been asked but how and when do we pay for the optional excursions? the contiki website lists them in US dollars - do we pay for them in US dollars or in egyptian pounds?

US Dollar, the dollar is widely used in Egypt. They’ll also accept payment in the form of credit card or travelers cheque.
