Versailles - is it easy to get there in your free time?

5 Apr 2008 Ali asked

Hello all - i'm planning a trip with my best buds and most of the trips don't have included visits to the Chateau Versailles, so I was thinking I could head there during those free afternoons ... just wondering ... is it total rocket science to get there from the hotel? Has anyone done it? do the tour managers help you?

It is really easy to get to Versailles by train.
I went first thing in the am and it was pretty busy, so I’m not sure how crazy the afternoon would be…

My suggestion would be to get a paris museum pass since it will save you time waiting in line, as you get to use a seperate entrance. I didn’t join up with a tour, instead choosing to rent the headphones that direct you through and give you info. Make sure to get around the entire grounds, including the grande canal and the trianons. Very cool.
