Travel books. Gift ideas for someone travelling to Europe.

Hi I was just after some ideas for my mates 21st birthday. We're doing the European escapade and I was after some suggestions as to what travel guides would be handy. I've seen a few but they aren't really relevant to someone doing contiki and more relevant to someone backpacking.

Or are there any other gift ideas that would be handy for him?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

lonely planet europe guide would be my suggestion, they have several different types for europe not just backpacking but tourist type one with all the essential info plus all the best places to see, eat, nightlife, maps etc only available online. i had one and it was the best travelling tool i had and saw soooo much more with it, save soooo much money and was able to get around easily with all the detailed maps. i think they are about $39.95 upwards depending on the type of book purchased.
