Security on Train/Cruise

My concern is how secure our rooms are on the overnight trains and on the cruise. Was it like a hotel where you locked it and had a key or you just took a chance? If anyone knows, please let me know...thanks.

ok cruise ship is like a hotel room. It has a key on a big brass key chain. As for the train the only way to lock your room is from the inside.
