    Hi

I have used the travel card for my last 2 holidays and didn’t have a problem.
I liked it because it doesn’t link to any of your accounts, you get 2 cards just in case you misplace one and you also put how ever much you want to on it before you leave home. You can always top it up if need be as well.
There is a 1% fee to load your cash on and also a fee whenever you go to an ATM, but that’s pretty much standard with all ATM’s now a days.

    Hope this helps !!

I would go the travelex card or any other banks travel money card. They are all pretty standard with the 1% loading fee & atm withdrawal fees. Plus the benifit is that you can load it in Euro.

By using your debit card the fees are higher, you will be hit with the overseas withdrawing fee + a international conversion fee ..

    Hope this helps

    hey all

i have just got back for tarlking to my bank (commonwelth) as i lost the pin for my credit card and i asked them and they said yes my debit card works over seas but it is not worth it with a $5 fixed trasaction fee and a 1-4 % int conversion fee .. so i am going with there travel card as are is no fees to use it a point of sale and a max $3 fee for withdrawing from a ATM.

    hope this helps

hmmm it is good but you have to qualify for it….I have stable employment (for 18 months) on more than enough income to cover it, no other liablities, no credit blemishes and I dont “meet lending criteria”. And they wont tell you why so there really isn’t anything you can do to rectify whatever it is that bars you. I’d suggest trying to apply for it well in advance so you can find alternatives if you get the same issue

i have mentioned this before but seriously NAB gold visa debit card, its ur own money and all u pay is $10 a month acc fee. There is no atm withdrawal fee, no point of sale fee and no conversion fee, $10 a month is better that $3+ each time u withdraw money and if u have 5000 going into the account in a month they waive the 10 fee for that month! Then once u get home u an cancel it or change it to there no fee streamline acc

I just got an ANZ Travel card for my trip which leaves this week. There is no intital load up fee and no fee to take off any money left at the end. The transaction fees are very similar to the travelex card. You get 2 cards with different pins…the second one is activated if something happens to your primary card. I spent some time researching before making this decision and this was the most suitable option for me. It is a visa card and can be used just like your normal debit card.

I looked at just using my debit card but the fees were expensive and you have no way of know what exchange rate your getting. Also it is safer to have your money accessible in a few different ways.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Jenna

It’s so hard figuring out what the best ways are to access your money overseas.

I did all the hard work before going to Europe this time last year and have put together some great information on the subject.

It just might help you with the decision.
