How comfortable was the cruise and the train for sleeping? I am bringing a set of travel sheets just in case. Was it gross?

The boat is very comfortable. You should sleep really well on it. The same cannot be said for the train. Some people might find the bumping along hypnotic but the sudden stops at stations in the middle of the night tended to wake me up.

We also experienced a bug problem on the train from Luxor back to Cairo. Unlike the train from Cairo to Aswan (which was fine), the train car we were in on the return trip was infested with bugs. Even our tour guide complained about it. The train manager had to move some of us to different cars. I’m not sure if our experience was an isolated incident or a more widespread issue. Just be aware that bugs are a possibility.

If you are super-sensitive to cleanliness, than you might want travel sheets, but I honestly don’t think they’re necessary.

    Hope this helps!

I didn’t find the train to be 5 star at all. Some of the cars on the train were “first class” which were a little nicer but a lot of them were so-so. They’re pretty cramped and the food wasn’t the best. I guess to be expected on a train.

Ariana, you had bugs? One of the girls on my tour saw a mouse in her cabin lol

I have to echo that it’s tough to sleep on the train from the rocking and sudden stops

The cruise was the best part of the tour, The rooms were very nice!

The sleeper train will either be the best sleep you have had all trip, or the worst. I took a gravol before going to bed, and it did the trick for me. I would suggest bringing a pillow case (wish I had), but I don’t think sheets are necessary.

The train beds were alright but I brought travel sheets with me for the train. I also took a gravol on the second time on the train and slept fine. But slept horrible the first time without gravol. The train is the worst of all the accomodations but nothing too bad just the bathrooms are extremly gross so bring hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Be prepared to feel dizzy after getting off the train for a couple of hours from the motion of the train all night.I must say though it is a fun experience Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->

SAME with my tour! The train from Cairo to Aswan there were no bugs, but from Luxor to Cairo we did see some in our cabin! They weren’t huge or particularily gross but just make sure you keep your luggage sealed up tight so they don’t continue on with you!

To be honest, the train was not as bad as I was anticipating. It’s actually a pretty fun experience! But take note, the cars are VERY small so there won’t be a ton of room to move around.
