greek islands - carrying passport, camera, ipod

hey
just a random question..
so your passport needs to be kept with you ALL THE TIME right, and camera plus ipod (eps. with photos on it),
so while in the greek islands - on a boat, on the beach etc., what do you do??
keep it all in a back pack and take it with you? or lock them up in the hotel (suitcase or safe?) ??
