Im going on European Highlights in about two weeks. I was just wondering if i could get any advice on any of the optional activities. Which ones were a waste of money and which ones are a must to do! Let me know! Thanks Smiler

hi! i did everything on my highlights tour except wine tasting in Rhine Valley, you have to do everything its all about the experience. Only thing i would skip out is going to the casino in Monaco, paid 10-15 euros to enter and it wasnt that exciting, felt quite pressured into going by the TM and felt i couldnt really leave as i had paid so much to get in. Apparently there is a free casino just down the road and that its good to explore a bit of the night life and see the expensive cars being driven.

I loved the cabaret, it was just such a good night out with everyone. Plus the 1/2 bottle of champagne always helps. It was the optional dinner before that was a bit average, snails were good tho. About 15 from my tour went to a restaurant down the road instead and met up with us when time for the show.
I never got carded the entire time i was in Europe or UK, it was very wierd, though wierder was seeing 16 year olds drinking in Germany. Funny to go back to NZ and get carded again. It would be awful if you turned up without it and they wouldnt let you in.

I went to the nouvelle show, but not the dinner, and thought the show was quite entertaining and worth the money. But everyone from the tour was exhausted as it was the second night of the tour (and some people like me had arrived less then 12 hours before the tour started!) and I think one person even feel asleep!
I don’t know if you go to florence, the food at the optional dinner their was terrible, however I did have a good time getting to know my tour mates more and generally had a good time. But you could have gotten a much better meal for a better price elsewhere.

Ok iv just uploaded our contiki shirt as my profile pic, hopefully that will come up. my friend drew it up during one of the bus trips. We put all our names and the cities we went to and flags of the nationalities of our group on it. We met another group and they had created a song, they put the lyrics on theirs. This photo is from someone who got the hoody which is what i want next time, i chose to get a orange v neck tshirt, which only came in colours pink or orange at the time, i was the only one to get the v neck as noone wanted those colours, best decision as the normal tshirt was a bit shapeless and everyone liked mine best, apart from the hoody of course.
Florence picture is cool but i wish it was the half the size-it comes about A4 size. It is a really scenic shot, funny thing was i dont remember actually looking at the view when i was there! I had it up on my wall for about a year afterward remembering everyone. I wont get it this time as people had scanned it and posted on facebook, and since im traveling in a group of 3 im sure one of them will get it.

ok pic too small try this it leads to my profile.

also if you do go to the caberet they give you a souviner booklet of the show, keep this as you can store your florence picture in it.
