In NY you tip wait staff, bartenders, cab drivers, bellhops and those who clean your rooms.

Yes tip your wait staff at restaurants, usually between 15% and 20% of your bill and it depends on their service too.. porters, taxi drivers usually $1-$2 per bag.. I always left a few dollars on a table in my room for the maids, don’t leave any other cash lying around though because they might just take it and think you’re very generous!

In the States wait staff at restaurants usually get tipped between 15% and 20%, before tax (though a lot of people add it after the tax).
In New York, sales tax is 8%, instead of 6% like most of the country, so lots of folks double the tax to get 16%.- 0 people like this
