Advice, which trip to choose? London+Paris+Rome or London+Paris?
14 Oct 2007 bama28 asked
1. London, Paris- 8 day
2. London, Paris- 10 day (2 extra days in Paris)
3. London, Paris, Rome- 10 day
I like that you spend more time in each city than the other tours, and would like any advice from those of you that might have gone on one/all of these trips. Thanks!

That’s a tough one … To begin, since you will be in Europe, why not go for the 10 day option? Since you are considering it and it is a possiblity, you might as well do it – it really isn’t that much more time. You could spend a month in each of these cities and not cover everything.
This basically boils down to do you want to see more of Paris or try and squeeze in a bit of Rome as well? (BTW, the Rome option is an 11 day tour from N America). Do some research on places to visit in Paris and Rome, then decide which piques your interest. Rome does have a lot to offer, and that’s not taking anything away from Paris.
Having said that, to answer your question, I would also see Rome, if I don’t plan on visiting in the future for quite some time. There are so many places to see as well on this planet.

I would do the london, paris rome as well. I just got back from Rome and its a great city lots of shops and lots of walking. I used the Rick Steves guide books for the cities loads of information.

One thing to consider is that there are lots of Italy specialist tours from many companies. If you skip Rome this time, your options are still open for doing it again.
Did a tour exclusively in Italy in 2005 and had an amazing time. Totally loved it!- 0 people like this

I did the entire shebang in 2005 and don’t regret it. I will say the 15-hour train ride from Paris to Rome was a bit grungy and well, an “adventure” but it was fun. If you won’t be back in Europe for a while, go for it. If you’re coming back, maybe do a more extensive tour of Italy. Venice was awesome, and I’m dying to see Florence.

I am a little bit worried too, but I worry about everything exciting that I am about to do! I am looking at going in May of 08. That way I have some time to save up some money! These message boards have really helped me research and prepare! I have been looking through these Contiki brochures for about 3 years now, so it is time to quit putting it off and go for it!!

I would agree with the others. If you realistically think you’ll be back in Europe and Italy in the future, then take the extra days in Paris. If not, Rome is not to be missed, it’s such a neat city.

I heard that there is no tour guide for Rome (for part of the london paris rome trip), is that correct? Would you be on your own ? That sounds kind of hard since I want to get to know the history of Rome if I go there.

I did the Paris extension, without it I wouldn’t have seen much of Paris. I say do 2 countries properly and save Rome for another trip rather than a bit of everything.
