Underage (21) Touring in the US

22 Dec 2008 cdm115 said

Benji suggested a sticky thread for underage touring in the US, so here it is.

My advice on it... If drinking is important then wait until you're 21.

You must be 21 to drink and gamble in the US, you'll need your passport as proof of age. You may be able to sneak into a couple places, but many places you will not be able to go to bars and clubs. There are some under 21 clubs which is an option and in some places the tour will not be hitting the bars in a town. Casinos in Vegas, you'll be able to get into them, look around maybe do a little gambling (they don't regularly check id's), but if you win big or look young you might have trouble.

If you like to party and drink, wait until your over 21 to go on a USA tour because it is very hard to get into 21+ clubs/bars and drink in general…

I had the same problem back in 1997 when i booked to go on a Contiki Tour to America the following January 1998.I was 19 going on 20 and even If I had been able to get the US Visa to go the age thing would have restricted me in a big way so I with regret swapped it for a Singapore Trip where the age of entering bars and clubs is 18

i did the grand southern last year we had some people who were underage – vegas – they were out of luck no chance, but we all tried to help them get in where ever we could. we did have a few hotel parties and they were able to join in so it wasnt like they missed out on fun. i think its up to the person, you might miss out on some partying but does that matter? if it does matter to you…. dont go, if it doesnt go for it! the trip is what you make it!
