  Depends on what kind of weather you enjoy. I have heard that Arrowtown (in south island) is best in autumn. But I would personally travel around Dec-March. It’’s pleasant during the day (nowadays its hot), and at night sometimes you can do without a light jumper. Summer is a good time to come. Avoid winter at all costs unless you’re into skiing. And anyway, winter just means more clothes to carry.
