I was under the assumption that I could charge my camera with only the us adaptor and it would still charge? (Although it would take longer without the voltage convertor) Do I need the voltage convertor or not??? I'm from australia if this helps, going to the usa...

you just need to check your charger, if it indicate input votage as 100-220V, then you will not need any converter. Most new devices have such features
