  I emailed the travel agent at Contiki and we’re supposed to be getting some information packets by the end of this week! So hopefully that will tell us everything we need to know and the times and everything.

  I just got my info pack today. In regards to the optional excursions, I’ve spoken to 3 people that did this tour last year and they recommended all of them so I’m pretty sure I’ll do every one. The elephant ride and the river tubing in Vang Vieng came especially recommended.
  
  The river tubing sounds a little lame in the description in the itinerary but I got told all about it and from what they told me it’s probably the thing that I’m looking forward to most about the trip!

  Here’s some tips on getting a taxi from the airport to the hotel (unfortunately getting ripped off by taxi drivers is quite common in SE Asia): http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tra…irport.To.Hotel.html
