Currency for Turkish visa?

7 Jun 2007 bellyk asked

US dollars, so you need these to by the Turkish visa at the border (my travel agent told me thats what I needed)? I'm travelling to the USA before I go to Europe so I wont have any problems getting the money, I just need to know whether or not I need to hold onto it or exchange what I have left into Euro's?

So I sort of figured out my own question before posting this, anyways I copied this from the website i got to through project visa:
3. Australia 3 Months 20 $ - 15 Euro

Would it be safe to have the US dollars anyway?
