Hi, I'm thinking of doing the Grand Northern

Hi All,
I am thinking of doing the Grand Northern next year June 2012. Will probably arrive a week before and stay for an extra week in and around California, probably San Francisco. If one wants to have a good time, and have enough money to book accommodation, how much spending money is required. Need to start planning now
