What happens when a tour gets cancelled?

Hi everyone! I've booked for the European Discovery tour September 2nd 2007. I'm sooo excited, but I've been hearing a bit about tours getting cancelled 
My tour isn't a guaranteed departure so I'm a bit concerned.
Does anybody know what happens if a tour is cancelled? Can we join another tour with approximately the same dates? (as these are the only days I can get off work). I'm anxious to get my flight booked but now I'm a bit worried.
Any advice would be much appreciated!!!
