I will be on a camping trip from April 22th to May 3rd visiting london, paris, Swis alpes, cote da Sur France Florence and Rome, Do you think it’s going to be cold??

Hi there i sure can i will email it to you now. By April it should be a lot warmer as its getting closer to summer in Europe but as i have said to everyone else it doesn’t hurt to pack some warmer clothes but the majority of you luggage will be summer clothing but i do’t think it will be too cold maybe just cooler in some places.

hey jeff. I have booked the northern trek which joins the tour half way through. did many people leave the tour mid way through, or did most people stay the whole tour? how many people got on in athens??

    Thanks mate

Hi Simon, well with my tour we had only 1 person leave us in Athens and 5 people join us on tour in Athens but I’m pretty sure each tour will have different number of people leaving and join the tour but there is pretty much always a bigger % of people doing the whole 46 day big chill tour.

    Hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi Kristy, i took a travelpack on my tour because i find it eaiser to get around with a travelpack then it is with a large suitcase and also eaiser to get in and out of your tent.

The main 3 Pro’s and Con’s between a travelpack vs a suitcase that you need to consider are the size, the weight and how much you want to take away with you. If you want to take a lot more clothing then a travelpack will be no good as there is limited packing space but if you are able to travel lite then a travelpack is perfect also keep in mind that Contiki have a strict 20KG luggage allowence and that they won’t allow you to take anything over that and you will need to leave behind any addition luggage.

On my tour is was about 50/50 with people having travelpacks and suitcases so you can take either really but i would highly suggest a travelpack.

    Hope you enjoy your tour.

    Happy travels

    Jeff

    Hey Jeff,

If you remember, how long did you spend at the Chateaux de Cruix? I know you go there for the wine tasting only but did you have time to look around, take photos, swim etc?

    Thanks :)

Hey Francesca, yeah we stopped at the chateaux de cruix for about 2 hours, did wine tasting and chilled outside the chateau and had a few drink and there is plenty of time for photos aswell but with the swimming its only available to the Contiki people doing tours that stay at the chateau unfortunately.

Hey Jeff! I just booked this tour leaving the end of April 2013 and I am soo excited to go. I have heard that wifi is available on the buses. Do you know if this is true? Thanks so much for your help! :)

Hi Danielle yes there is WIFI on the coach but unfortunately it has a really bad connection and doesn’t really work that well. So majority of the time you will need to wait until you get to a campsite to get a decent WIFI connection as pretty much all campsite will have WIFI.

    It’s a really great tour I’m sure you’ll have a awesome time.

    Enjoy

Hi, about the power outlets on the campsites, are they near the tents? If we need to charge something, we need to wait until it gets completely charged to bring it back to the tent or it is okay to leave it charging with no problem? I will also like the packing list if you can, my email is jd.martin88@hotmail.com . Anyone in here is going to the tour that is starting on June 16? I’m pretty excited to start this adventure! :)

Julio the power outlets are located throughout the campsite but some are close to your campsite, i would suggest staying with your items that you are charging in case as you don’t want to have anything stolen. It’s a good way to get a group of people together to get to know them while you what for your things to charge. I’ll forward on a packing list to you shortly.

Hey Jeff! Just wondering what you do with your luggage etc during the day when you’re not at the campsite, does it get stored on the bus or in the tents? I’m quite nervous about my luggage or valuables being stolen!!

  • 9 Apr 2013 ExplorerJeff said

    ExplorerJeff

Hey Sarah, all your luggage is left in your tents during the day but you have several options if you have valuables that your worried about, 1.take as much valuables with you as you can i.e passports, cameras etc 2. put a lock on your tent ( but NOT recommendable as it shows your got valuables lock away in your tent) or 3. speak to your tour manager and ask if you can leave valuable lock up in the coach. With our tour we didn’t have any problems with theft of valuable and pretty much everyone left tents unlocked but hide valuable deep in there luggage or they took the items with them out each day. But if your really worried about any expensive personal items i.e laptop etc i would probably leave them on the coach.
