My fiance and I are thinking of going on the European Inspiration (Winter) tour in November 2012 for our honeymoon. Just wondering if anyone has been on this tour during the same time of the year. Was it too cold? Any tips?

I did this tour last year, it was the greatest. Wasn’t that cold it didn’t rain or snow on our tour. Munich was our coldest. The cold didn’t bother too badly just pack appropriately, wear lots of layer, get a good coat and you’ll be fine! It’s an amazing trip had the time of my life, couldn’t recommend it more.

Hey Jaz, thanks for your response! Any other tips for this tour? We’ve never been on a contiki before. Is there enough time in each city? Also, we are lost when it comes to how much money to take. We want to get in the most we can from each city – including nightlife, restaurants/bars, activities, souvenirs. Any sort of little tips you have for this tour would be greatlyy appreciated. Thanks!

Also, how are the hotels on this trip? We are used to North American hotels, which I heard are quite different. Do you stay in fairly clean, renovated hotels with amenities?

I felt I had enough time, that’s what’s great about this tour is you get a full day to explore. Cause it’s winter there’s less lines for attractions so you see more. I got to do and see everything I wanted to. You don’t get to know the city but you get a taste for it and can get through all the major things. The only place I wanted more time was Paris, which was our last stop so I just stayed on there instead of getting the bus back to London, a fair few also did this.
In terms of money I aimed at having enough for $100 a day so like 60-70 euro per day minimum, but take enough for the optional activities too!! I like to shop so brought alot and in terms of nightlife if you do all the pub crawls they do deals on drinks. Drinks were alot cheaper than what I was used to as was food. Souvenirs can get pricey so shop around away from the main hot tourist spots.
The hotels were surprisingly awesome. Italy had our most dodgy ones but it’s said they all are in Italy. Venice was the only place I thought I light get eaten by bed bugs. Everywhere else was lovely and unto north American hotel standards. Stayed at best westerns, holiday inn, ibis to name a few chain ones. They were all out of town but no more than a €20 taxi home after clubbing. Breakfasts were great too bot just a piece of toast or a bowl of cereal, most were buffet.
If you have any other questions let me know. Hope you have an amazing time! Which you will cause honestly it was the best time of my life
