  Hey ShellsPem I’m doing the same tour on my own so I’ll be your pre-friend especially seen you like beer so much haha! It’s my first Contiki and first trip to Europe, going to be a bit daunting but I’m looking forward to it. Have you traveled much? I’ve only really been to Japan and bits of Australia.

  Oh please, call me Shelley. haha. It’s also my first Contiki and I’m so excited. I’ve been to the States before and I had a pretty epic holiday in Rome/Paris in 2010/2011 and I fell in love with the place! I’ve done a lot of South Africa (my own country). Yes, I do drink a lot of beer. Too much in fact. And also like to wear pig heads apparently :) I think we’re gonna have an amazing time!

  Cool Shelley it is then, its Ben btw or Hoppo whichever suits. Sounds as though you’ll know your way around Paris and Rome when we get there. My old housemates have done quite a bit of Europe and loved it and everybody I know who has done a contiki has said good things about it so it should be a lot of fun, just hope its not too cold, not really used to it getting below 10 deg in winter! Are you just doing the tour or heading somewhere else as well? I’m going to spend another 3 weeks in the UK afterwards thought I may as well while I’m on that side of the globe. Nothing wrong with wearing pigs heads, providing they’re cute pink fluffy ones haha ;).

Yeah, I hear you about the cold. Us Southerners don’t do cold. I’m keen to do some more exploring in Rome because I did most of the tourist things last time, so may sneak off and do my own thing a little ;) I hope everyone is super friendly really quickly, because it’s my birthday on the 20th of March, so I may have to demand that you buy me a beer in celebration.

  Hmm where to begin, tall, handsome, bondi beach surf life saver………. haha. Nah seriously I’m a civil/structural engineer (bit lame sorry) on a mini retirement so I thought I do some traveling. Mainly into sailing, camping, cars, chillin drinking beers and rum, all the usual boy stuff. I grew up out in country, but was living in the city (Brisbane, Aus) for the last six years, then moved back to near Noosa which is a small town on the coast. Thats the basics. So your turn now.

It’s mostly ridiculous :) Music: I play piano and occasionally make up lyrical odes about Whitney Houston’s death. You can’t live in the city because people will kill you (basically) but it’s so built up here, we consider the city as most of the province!

  Semi-erotic I’d call that more interesting than ridiculous ;) Piano sounds cool, I think if I was to pick a instrument to want to play that would be it, but I’m pretty uncoordinated when it comes to playing anything like that :(. Whitney Houston, gees you were quick off the mark there haha. Really can’t imagine what it would be like in Johannesburg, everyone I’ve met from South Africa says its a bit rough like that, Australia seems really tame in comparison all we have to whinge about is tax and potholes in the road mostly.

  We moan about that stuff too, no worries! The crime’s bad, but it’s such a cool mixture of people, I love being in town. There are so many different cultures here. It’s my favourite thing about SA. DOn’t trust people from South Africa who’ve moved to Aus. We call them traitors ;)

  Most of the South African I’ve met so far have been pretty cool, most were at uni and just here to study so that doesn’t make them traitors does it haha? Yeah places would be pretty boring to live in if they weren’t multicultural, although I like it from an outsiders perspective also when you go somewhere that has centuries old traditions and cultures, thats what I liked about Japan mostly. So do you have your own blog then?
