When in New York I want to see a show either Lion King, Chicago, Mamma Mia, Priscilla or Mary Poppins. Should I buy my tickets before I go or try and get a ticket at the TKTS booth in Times Square? I am going with my sister so I would need 2 tickets which I thought might be hard to get 2 tickets together if I waited till I was there. I have had a look at ticket availability on that days I'm there and it looks like only the night shows are available now, the matinee shows have sold out.

There is actually a TKTS book in downtown brooklyn I think at the South Street Seaport, which are MUCH less crowded and you’ll have a better chance of getting tickets. But if you’re picky about your show, then I would buy in advance. If shows are starting to sell out then it’s probably worth the money and not worth the risk of missing a show. I just saw Rock of Ages, if you like 80’s music it’s a REALLY fun show to see.
