HI
Did lake tahoe last year, on the LA to the bay tour, and spent New YEars there. It was great, the town is gorgous, contiki had us stay at the horizon casino on the stateline, so we have a 24hr bar, plus there was skiing options and snowmobilling options, the town has an icskating rink and lots of shops.
for an australian who has only seen snow twice in her life lake tahoe was one of the highlights of the trip.- 0 people like this

Hi Manda
The winter summer thing is totally a personal choice, i’ve done europe during the winter and america, and go back to europe this winter again. I’m from the tropics in queensland and i LOVE the cold.
LA i not that cold, san dieago about the same. Everyone saying that Las Vegas would be cold but it was only at night, Going during the winter i didn’t feel like i miss out on any thing. Some guys on the tour even went swimming on the coast.- 0 people like this

at tahoe are you expected to bring your own skow gear (e.g. jacket, pants etc) or is there some available to hire if needed?

Hi Manda,
San francisco wasn’t that cold at all during the day, but on the boat out to alcatraz and the night the temperature did drop a little. I didn’t get to the east coast but a lot of the people on the trip last year got caught in the blizzards that hit New year and washington.
Claireb – You can hire snow gear, except goggles you have to buy or go without. there around $50 to purchase at the hire shop that contiki takes you to.- 0 people like this
