Which Greek Island to go to? Travelling Aug 29-May 1st

I'm taking the tour London to Athens from April 13th to April 29th and I plan to spend a few days on one of the greek island before heading home. Which island would be the most fun and the warmest to go to from April 29th to May 1st? Also, does anyone know a good way of travelling and a cheap place to stay on the island?Is it better to book in Athens or before? I'm going by myself so I'm flexible.
