Hop on Hop Off Bus - Paris. Worth doing?

I am doing a tour in May and have one full day in Paris.
Has anyone used the hop on hop off bus in Paris?
I was thinking of doing this as I am worried I won't get to see everything and thought maybe this option would be better as it goes to all the major sites.
But then is it better to just check everything out with fellow tour mates rather than on your own.
Any suggestions?
