What type of backpacks do most contikiers bring?

I'm doing european encounter in a few days and still haven't decided what type of backpack to bring. Can anyone help? Is there a high chance i'd be pick-pocketed if i brought a normal backpack instead of a side bag

Just keep valuables hidden deep in the back pack or in your pockets so even if they tried they would not get anything.
