Credit card to pay for optionals?

Hi, I am going on the Egypt and the Nile tour and just wondering if anyone knows whether a credit card can be used for optionals like Abu Simbel?

I am not sure about Egypt, but in the european tour, you pay cash to your tour manager. I would assume its the same.
