Camping or Concept..?

5 Oct 2012 Ell asked

I'm looking at doing either a camping or concept tour for around a month next year but need some extra advice!..

A friend told me camping was great but a little much or a whole month.. every forum I could find seemed to also suggest that camping was the best although I like the idea of the special stopovers etc on the concepts.. Also I read a few things about the concepts having an older crowd and more couples, where as the camping sites had a younger more 'party-scene' crowd but campsites were further out of town..?

I think I would probably prefer the concept as long as it had a similar crowd of solo travellers wanting so socialise and have a good time.

If anyone has any more info on concept or camping tours I would love to hear it!..

Thanks, Ell :)

The tours that are most likely to attract couples and older people are the Superior/Time Out ones, which stay only in hotels. Concept and Camping tours are a younger, most party-oriented crowd. Also, on the longer tours, there will likely be more younger people as well, because it’s easier to get time off work etc.

I did a Superior tour back in May, and it was only 11 days long… hah sooo yeah TONS of couples and only like 7 other solo travelers. Oh, and only ONE real “party night”. It was pretty fun, but not at all what I was expecting. I travel solo and I’m definitely a party girl. So I just used that experience to help me decide on my next tour and I feel good about it (London to Athens June 2013!).

Anyway, you can’t really go wrong with either Concept or Camping tours, but I’d go with Concept. I personally don’t think I’d be able to handle sleeping in a tent for a month, plus the campsites are pretty far out of town… Concept is just more my style. A lot of the special stopovers sound awesome, like the Chateau in France and the Corfu resort. I’ve read a ton of travel blogs from Concept tours and they all make it sound incredible! I can’t wait haha. Hope that helps a little bit. Have fun on your tour!

Thanks for the help!.. Weirdly enough I met a girl last night who did the european adventurer concept tour, which is one I was considering, so with both her advice and yours I’ve decided to book that one in later this week :) can’t wait!!.. Hope you enjoy the London to Athens!

That tour looks incredible! I really wanted to book either that one or the Ultimate European, but I couldn’t round up the money in time and I wasn’t about to wait another year haha. You’ll have so much fun, enjoy it!

Im hopefully booking the May 24th one, just because I want to go to pamplona in Spain which is on July 6th and the may tour ends in time for me to make my way there.. I saw that you were trying to decide between adventurer and easy rider btw.. they were the 2 i was deciding between too!.. one of my friends did the 21 day camping, n she said she made a heap of friends that did the easy rider n they said it was great but camping for that long felt like a bit much n they were a bit over it by the end, plus this friend is from a really ‘camping family’ n said she wouldn’t have wanted to go on camping much longer, that’s just what kinda swayed me.. but she did say that she thinks the camping tours force you to mingle more and told me I should still do the camping, so whatever
