Hey im planning on doing a UE trip in 2010, not sure when (see what the dates are first!), but have plenty of time decide and save. DEFINATELY want to do Egypt though.

Thinking of doing Berlin & Prague afterwards too.

Won’t bother creating a thread till next year when the dates are released, but for the mean time ive been loving this forum and the travelogs. Now just to save Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->

    Cheers

    Hey Nat,

I was looking through the brochure was thinking I’d do the UE in July or August of next year then I noticed that they go through Galipoli on ANZAC Day and thought that would be an awesome trip. Im already booked in for a contiki of the US for January next year so i’ll be looking at 2010 to do the UE. Its so far away but time flies these days lol. Like Tim said, just gotta wait for the dates to be released.

    Hey guys,

Looks like there’s a few early planners!! I’m looking at this trip, mainly for the ANZAC day and Egypt part. Considered backpacking but like the convenience of not having to worry about transport and where to stay!!!
Have been to NZ on a Contiki tour and absolutely loved it – went solo (first time on a plane, let alone overseas!!) but loved every minute of it!! Can’t wait to do another!!

    Hey Jodes,

Thats the same for me, I would love to go for the ANZAC Day in Gallipoli, as well as Egypt as I’ve always wanted to go and had a fascination with the pyramids etc. When the dates come out I might give contiki a call and see what they say about the tour in 2010. It seems ages away but really its only 18 months

I’ve sent an email to my NZ contiki tour manager to (he’s done tour managing over in Europe) to see what he thinks of the trip too.

Let you know what he says too!

Sweet nothing like having a few other people planning the same trip as you to keep you motivated!

I’m contemplating a 6 month stint in Europe in 2010.

I plan on doing a few tours, but UE+Egypt tops the list… and doing it with the tour going through Gallipoli during Anzac day would be awesome.

Hey, I am planning on doing this trip with the Greek option in 2010. Really looking forward to being at Gallipoli for ANZAC day. I am really interested in Egypt and have to decided to do Egypt on its own in a few years.

Has anyone decided on how much spending money they are bringing yet? I don’t drink so that will hopefully leave me with some extra money to spend on souvenirs that will most likely gather dust in my cupboards when I arrive home. Big Grin<!--graemlin::D-->

Anyone else thats doing this tour feel free to add me to MSN or send me an email: _clare@live.com.au

I’m rapt that so many people are thinking of going. I’ve definitely locked this particular date in (esp because of ANZAC day!).

Also planning on touring England and Scotland for two weeks either before or after the tour too!

^ Do we have to wait until next October/November to book?

I am wanting to travel around Scotland etc. afterwards.

They usually don’t let you book until at least 8 mths before (I think just in case of changes to schedules and places to stay)

My family is from Scotland so really looking forward to taking some pics of the towns where they’re from etc etc…

Still debating whether I’ll go before or after the tour as I may have to be back home before the end of May…but plenty of time to plan!

(aswell as one of the northen american tours afterwards)so excited that there are already others looking into it. Im planning on going solo so this will be my first time on a plane and travelling alone. got any ideas on how much spending money you will need? and wether you will be doing other tours before or after this one?

I rang Contiki earlier this week and they said you can’t book for the March 2010 tour until October 2009.

Is anyone still planning on doing this tour? I am in the process of making a facebook group for it, probably a bit early for that but oh well!

If you haven’t read Dave Challenger’s travelogue, its worth reading. When he went to Europe for 73 days including UE+Egypt, it cost roughly €15,000. Pricey, but I am more worried about how thinly the aussie dollar may spread next year. :|

    Really excited about going though!

I read Dave’s travelogue the other day, it was a really good read.

Hopefully the aussie dollar will be better next year but I am saving more than I have to so that I will still have enough money if the dollar drops further.

I cannot wait to book, then it will all actually feel real.

    Hi all

I’m planning on doing the 210 UE for ANZAC Day + Egypt. I’m so excited!! But I read you can’t book until October? Why is that? This will be my first Contiki tour and I’m flying solo. I can’t wait till next year already!!

foxxyrainbow – I suppose they can’t open to many dates in advance otherwise they would have to many bookings etc to maintain.

I am getting so excited! Only 8 and a bit months to go, better than over a year to go.
