Egypt & The Nile in May -- too hot?

My friend and I are considering doing the Egypt trip May 22nd. She's worried that it might be too hot at that time of year. Unfortunately, it's the only time we can go. We are both from Florida so we're used to heat, but she's not too fond of it.

I think since it's still spring it won't be too bad but I'm not sure. Is it still okay at that time of year? If she dresses lightly and brings a handheld fan or an umbrella for shade will it combat the weather a bit?
