Contiki Europe - Safe?

Not so long ago, me and a friend did a Contiki Tour in Europe. It was decent until our tour manager got drunk and left the two of us at a train station in Italy. We were completely lost and it was a terrifying ordeal to get home. Our tour manager didn't even know that we were missing. And to add insult to the injury, when we contacted Conitki about this incident, Contiki sent a letter back saying what happened was our doing--that it was OUR fault. We're not getting anywhere with Contiki costumer relations or management. It's SO frustrating. How is it that Contiki can't even keep its customers safe??
