Contiki Europe - Safe?
19 Nov 2012 MadisonL asked
Not so long ago, me and a friend did a Contiki Tour in Europe. It was decent until our tour manager got drunk and left the two of us at a train station in Italy. We were completely lost and it was a terrifying ordeal to get home. Our tour manager didn't even know that we were missing. And to add insult to the injury, when we contacted Conitki about this incident, Contiki sent a letter back saying what happened was our doing--that it was OUR fault. We're not getting anywhere with Contiki costumer relations or management. It's SO frustrating. How is it that Contiki can't even keep its customers safe?? Anyone else have a similar experience like ours?? Share your stories!

I never had any problems with my TM. In fact, I found my TM very responsible when it came to going out and drinking with us at night as I really don’t ever remember him getting completely drunk to the point where he would forget about us. What you need to remember is in the end, you are responsible for yourself when you go out on Contiki. I do agree with you that what your TM did to you wasn’t in good taste and not very professional, but in the end since you are “legal age” they aren’t actually responsible for you.

I understand your frustration and that its not a very comfortable feeling being in a strange city this happened to me in amsterdam on our last night i was on crutches and thought i’d go out with the group to the bar for the last night and of course no one noticed that I was walking with them so they all walked in front i lost sight of them & i didn’t know where to go so i had to catch a taxi back to the hotel by myself so i can sympathise with you but on behalf of contiki we are travelling as adults and the tour manager is not a baby sitter, their job is to show you the sites and ensure you get what you have paid for accommodatin, meals & get you from a to b on your traveling days. Just use it as experience not to rely on others next time, always make sure you have you get lost or oh shit sheet its the most valuable piece of paper you can have apart from your passport & cash
