Digital camera and/or video camera?

hey guys,
ive recently been watching some videos from contiki and other people who have been on contiki tours and have noticed a lot of them have recorded video and still image.
so im wondering whether you think a video camera is a good thing to take on tour, as well as a digital camera? or should i just record video with my digital camera?
im doing the egypt tour and european vista and dont want to miss showing my parents and other people and also for documentation of my trip of a life time.
ugh so many things to think of and my trips still like 5 months away! LOL
