Cairns and Sunshine Trail

It looks like the Cairns and Sunshine Trail is the same as Beaches and Reefs -- just starting in Brisbane, not Sydney. Does that mean I hop on with a tour group that started a few days earlier?

It makes sense from a contiki logistics standpoint, but seems odd that individual tours could not be filled up on it’s own. That people who travel solo will be at a disadvantage to joining a tour that started a week or so ago with cliques formed and all. So it goes. Booked anways—I’m not anti-social.
