Solo traveller...excited by options...though would love to know if there are many people aged 30-35 who've been on a Contiki tour, and your thoughts on the experience.

Hello, I’m doing Turkish Sailing 14 Sep, and I’ll be 30. I’ve just come back from the Thai West Island hopper tour, the tour was full, and most of the travellers were 25 and older, and a good couple were in their 30’s. I’m 29 and thought I would be the oldest, but I was one of the youngest. I’m also a solo traveller.

    Kate,
I’ll be 34 by the time I’ll travel and i’m planning on Berlin to Budapest tour. Usually the Greek Island Hopping or Croatia tours have younger crowds cause basically you do beach and party. The more sightseeing there is the more chance it will be an older crowd

Thanks NYGiantsFan…that’s really good to know. I’m looking at Europe (Italy / France in particular). Any feedback on this would be fantastic!

Simply Italy is a good tour to see Italy and pretty much takes you to all the major cities. I was also looking into it

My Fiancee and I are doing the Road to Athens tour in the summer for our honeymoon, I am 31. My travel agent highly recemmended Contiki for a mixture and history and culture along with lots of fun. The tour we are doing includes 2 nights in Paris and 6 nights in Italy. 9 countries in total. So I think there will be people of all ages on the tours.

Kate, I worried about the same thing before my first contiki trip. I’ve taken 3 so far and each one has been mixed. The majority have been under 29 but there has been at least 10-15 people on each of my trips that have been over 30. Out of 50 total that’s not bad. Plus who cares. There great, fantastically priced trips were you don’t have to worry about anything but showing up. Just go and have fun.

Great question and great answers! I’m in the 30+ age group and had reservations about booking with Contiki because I was concerned about their reputation as a “party tour” company catering to college co-eds looking to get hammered and have casual hookups. (I found some discouraging reviews on the web) However, after reading the comments on this thread, I just may bite the bullet and book the late-August Mediterranean Hightlights tour! Hopefully most of the party crowd will be back in school by then…
