How many days?

I am new to this game, but extremely excited. I am hoping to travel Europe from July-September 2007 and am trying to decide on which tour. Can anyone let me know if 45 days was too long as I will either do a short tour and roam around by myself of do the longer more expensive contiki.In regards to cost can anyone let me know if it will probably be cheaper to do the Contiki?

Thank you so much. That really helped as I reckon I will now do the European Escapde, go to the Greek Islands then roam around for a few weeks. Cheers!
