Must-see movies?
8 Apr 2007 JBCali asked
So, being super-excited for our trip, my husband and I have been trying to watch movies that take place in Europe.
So far we've seen Eurotrip, and National Lampoon's European Vacation. Are there any other movies that we need to see? They don't necessarily have to be about visiting Europe, just anything involving European life or culture is great. Any suggestions?
I'm kinda avoiding Hostel, btw. I'm easily freaked out. :-)

I’ve seen a few lately in preperation too
<!--graemlin::)-->
The new Mr Bean movie does France.
Under the Tuscan Sun has some great shots of Italy.
Surprising, The Lizzie Maguire movie is a good one too, she’s on a school holiday in Rome.
I’m still looking for others
<!--graemlin::)--> I think I might have to venture into foreign movies.- 0 people like this

oh, definitely Chocolat- it is the best movie!!! Set in france, with Johnny Depp
<!--graemlin::)-->
Also, if you’re into reading, i’d reccommend Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons. Fantastic, set in Rome, you’d be able to see all the sights/ settings in real life

Might not recognize much seeing the film before the tour, but afterwards when you get back, you do say “Oh … I’ve been there ”http://connect.contiki.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif" alt=“Smiler” width=“15” height="15"><!--graemlin::)-->" … such as in the Bourne Identity which wanders around Europe and concludes in Mykonos.- 0 people like this

“French Kiss” with Meg Ryan and Kevin Klein is one of my favorite movies. It takes place in various parts of France. It’s cute, funny, and highlights cultural differences between the French and Americans/Canadians.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I’ve added a few more to my Netflix queue, as well as Sound of Music.
I don’t think my tour stops in Salzburg, but it’s still the Alps, right?
Has anyone seen Deuce Bigalo: European Gigolo or Roman Holiday (Audrey Hepburn)? I’m wondering if either of those would be good.- 0 people like this

Haha, I could definitely see this movie freaking some people out.
Don’t watch it before you leave, watch it when you get back. It’s actually an excellent movie!- 0 people like this
