More Tour and Travel Advice for Europe

As much as you probably won’t want it to, the tour has got to end some time.

Weather, traffic and other external factors out of our control may effect arrival times, therefore these times should be used as a general guide.

Finishing at the Royal National Hotel, London

Many of our European Tours finish at the same place they start – in London at the Royal National Hotel (official site), Russell Square.

• Camping Tours and Concept/Budget Tours : between 5pm and 8pm

• Time Out/Superior/Hotel Tours : between 4pm and 7pm

It is also possible to finish your tour at the last city of your tour (eg Paris, Amsterdam).

Finishing in other cities

Should you wish to finish your tour before your last city you should notify your Tour Manager and fill out the appropriate paperwork once on tour.

If your tour ends in another city, usually your itinerary will state that ‘your tour ends after breakfast’. This means that you have an included breakfast that morning at your Contiki hotel (at a time specified by the hotel) and what you do with yourself after that is entirely up to you. If you are leaving the hotel, you will have the morning in the hotel and check out at whatever time the hotel specifies.

You may plan to make your way to the nearest airport and head home, continue onto your next destination or simply stay longer and enjoy more of your final tour city.

The itinerary for you final evening of tour will vary depending on the tour and the city but again, like all Contiki Tours you have the freedom to do what you like, even leave the evening before if you like.

While on Tour

Arrival times while on tour will vary depending on your itinerary for the day. Tour Managers and drivers have to take into account not only the itinerary for the day, strict European driving regulations and laws restricting the time your Driver can spend behind the wheel and a myriad of other factors.

Every day therefore is very different as the organized itinerary for each day is varied. Occasionally to make the most of your time you may have an afternoon or evening of sightseeing before arriving at your accommodation but this will vary from day to day and tour to tour.
