As well as being the capital and largest city in the country, Vienna is also the cultural centre of the country offering an amazing array or palaces, buildings, parks, gardens, architecture, and museums in the heart of what was one of the greatest and most powerful empires in Europe.
Austria has been home to the likes of artist Gustav Klimt and Adolf Loos as well as many great architects whose work can be mainly seen in the city of Vienna today.
World renowned musicians have for centuries lived, worked and studied in Austria going back to the times of Mozart, Strauss and more recently the Von Trapp Family singers, whose story was immortalized in the movie and stage show The Sound of Music.
