Although it has not always been, today France and it’s capital of Paris have become synonymous with art, culture, style and chic.
The Louvre in Paris is but one of over 70 museums in Paris alone and France has been home to some of the most well know, famous and influential artists of the 20th century with people like Monet, Manet, Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gough and Chagall among many, many other calling France home during the Impressionist Art era and much of their work is showcased throughout the country. Much of the work of these legends of the art world are on display in museums like the Musee d’Orsay, the Rodin and the myriad of other collections throughout France.
Julius Caesar and the Romans left ruins as reminders of their occupation over 2000 years ago while medieval walled towns and villages dot the lush, green countryside. The opulent luxury of the French royals is evident in the chateaus and palaces not only in Paris but in the Loire Valley and Fontainebleau among others. The spirit of the French Revolution can be seen from French coins to town halls emblazoned with ‘liberte, egalite, fraternite’ while Napoleons monumental structures are simply awe inspiring.
