<p><img src="" class="rightwise" alt="" /></p> <p>Bavaria (German: Bayern) is the largest and southern-most administrative region of <a href="/contikipedia/articles/germany">Germany</a> famous for its beautiful countryside, mountains, alps, laid-back lederhosen wearing residents and, maybe most of all its beer. <a href="/contikipedia/articles/munich">Munich</a>, the capital of Bavaria and Germany&#8217;s third largest city is home to the yearly <a href="/contikipedia/articles/oktoberfest">Oktoberfest</a> (aka Beerfest).</p> <p>The Bavarians are reasonably culturally independent of their fellow countrymen and women speaking an unusual dialect of German and noticeable differences in their lifestyle and attitudes. Generally, the Bavarians have more in common with the people of the <a href="/contikipedia/articles/tyrol">Tyrol</a> in <a href="/contikipedia/articles/austria">Austria</a> though neither will admit it as they are both fiercely independent.</p>
