People travel to Prague and the Czech Republic to see it’s ancient castles and beautiful city-scapes and the city stands out amongst almost all other European capitals as one of the most beautiful cities on the continent. The Czech capital is living proof that small is beautiful.

Drenched in centuries worth of buildings and architecture it was one of the few ancient cities of Europe to avoid destruction during the Second World War and after the political changes of the late 20th century, Prague (as well as much of Central and Eastern Europe) has opened up to more and more travellers.

Making your way trough the crowds in the maze of streets that make up the old part of town is much like any other ancient European city, however once you get a chance to get out into on of the open squares on top of one of the panoramic hills that surround the city it becomes a visual candy store.

Hradcany Castle, on the hill over looking the city, is the oldest and also most condensed Home to the many towers and extensions the 12th century palace has received over the last 900 years as well as St Vitus Cathedral and the ‘Golden Lane’. The Charles Bridge links the Lesser Town to the Old Town and is packed with tourists and street vendors during summer time but also ranks towards the top of the visual wonders of the city.

The most noticeable in the old town is the Our Lady Before Tyne church, on the edge of the old town square, dominates the square and perhaps more than any other crates a fairly tale feel. The most photographed icon of the city is also on the edge of the old town square. The Astrological Clock is beautiful in it’s own right but every hour, on the hour it performs a marionette show to the hordes crowed below.
