Check your Contiki travel documents for the exact hotel you will be staying at in Cairo.

Contiki can provide a complementary shuttle bus to the hotel only if you notify us of your flight details at least 7 days in advance of your arrival.

You will be met by a local representative holding a Contiki sign (easy to find) in the arrivals hall of the airport.

Due to different flight arrival times you may need to wait in the airport for up to an hour for our transfer.

If you miss our representative or want to make your own way to the hotel there are many taxis at the airport.

Although Arabic is the official language, English is a widely spoken and understood language in Egypt.

I had a wonderful experience on the tour but a horrible experience at the Cairo airport, they lost my luggage and when I went to the lost baggage claim department; they were not helpful and they really didn’t care. It was one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had. They gave me a file reference claim number and they told me to call the airport the next day, but they NEVER answered the phone. When someone finally answered the phone 2 days later; they said that the reference number that they gave me was not in the computer system and that they have no idea were my bags are. Thank God for my Contiki Tour Guide because he was able to get me my correct reference claim number. I didn’t end up getting my bags until the night that I was leaving to come home & come to find out that it was at the Cairo airport the whole time (they also damaged my bags). On my tour another traveler’s bags were also lost at the airport.

    I had to buy clothes at an Egyptian Market and they were very uncomfortable because since I am a female all of the dresses were really long and also long sleeved. I was so hot and miserable that I had to have a tailor cut the length of the dresses and turn them into short sleeves. I spent/wasted about $160 U.S. on the clothes that I have only worn in the house (they look like Halloween costumes).

    PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU BRING AT LEAST 2 OR 3 DAYS OF CLOTHES IN YOUR CARRY ON BAG.
