Maris Gras is a world-wide event and people travel to New Orleans to experience one of the worlds most famed Carnivale events.
The New Orleans Mardi Gras is one of the most famous street parties and events in the world and usually falls around February/March every year. The date of New Orleans Mardi Gras, like other Carnival celebrations around the world, varies from year to year depending on when Easter falls and the party in New Orleans centers around ‘Shrove’ or ‘Fat’ Tuesday. Easily one of the biggest and most debauched parties in the world, it is also billed as the world biggest street party. A must for anyone traveling though the region at the right time of year.
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a week long music festival that takes place between the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. While the celebration is centered around music, there is also loads of great southern food to be found at the Festival grounds.
